It was the view of the panel the impact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Contact between Melbourne’s Jack Trengove and North Melbourne’s Jamie Macmillan from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Trengove runs in at speed and tackles Macmillan from behind. As he tackles the North Melbourne player, he turns Macmillan and the momentum of both players contributes to them going forward to the ground. It was the view of the panel the tackle was not unreasonable in the circumstances and no further action was taken.

Contact between the Adelaide Crows’ Scott Thompson and the Geelong Cats’ Steve Johnson from the first quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. After a ruck contest, Johnson is moving towards the loose ball at speed while Thompson is coming to the contest at an angle. Thompson receives a push from player Joel Corey into the path of Johnson and, at the last moment, he braces before contact is made. It was the view of the panel the contact was caused by circumstances outside the control of player Thompson and no further action was taken.

Contact between Carlton’s Andrew Carazzo and umpire Dean Margetts from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Umpire Margetts throws up the ball at a stoppage and contact is made to him by player Carazzo. Contact between the Gold Coast Suns’ Trent McKenzie and umpire Craig Fleer from the second quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Play is in the middle of the ground and the Swans are heading to their forward line with possession. Umpire Fleer is beginning to move downfield with the ball while player McKenzie is watching the play. The pair do not see each other and contact is made. It was the view of the panel there was no negligence on the part of player McKenzie that contributed to the contact. No further action was taken.

Contact between the Gold Coast Suns’ Karmichael Hunt and the Sydney Swans’ Ben McGlynn from the fourth quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The ball is loose and McGlynn and Hunt are coming to the ball from opposite directions. As McGlynn places his hands on the ball, Hunt is coming to the contest with his hands down in front of him. It was the view of the panel that Hunt was contesting the ball and did not have a realistic alternative way to do so. No further action was taken.

Contact between Fremantle’s Matthew Pavlich and Port Adelaide’s Danyle Pearce from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. The ball is kicked into the Fremantle forward line to Pavlich, who is on a lead in front of his opponent. Pearce comes across the line of Pavlich in a bid to intercept the ball as Pavlich is going to ground to try and win the ball. Pavlich makes high contact with Pearce but it was the view of the panel it was a realistic attempt to contest the ball and he had no alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was taken.

Contact between St Kilda’s Stephen Milne and the Western Bulldogs’ Robert Murphy from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. Milne and Murphy have contested a mark and the ball is in dispute. Milne recklessly swings his arm and makes slight high contact with Murphy, for which a free kick is paid to the Bulldogs’ player.
