AFL 2011 Power Rankings – Round 12

.

Social Media site Twitter has been in the headlines this year, so this week it's a special "Twitter themed" Power Rankings, with each team given 140 characters (just like on Twitter) to sum up their form and current position in the AFL.

.

.

Geelong 1 <NO CHANGE>

.

Registered their 11th win for the season, courtesy of J-Pod's 6 goals, a scoreless Hawks last quarter and a curious free NOT paid to Buddy.

.

Stat line: The Cats remain 8 wins away from equaling the Saints streak of 19 wins in the 2009 season.

.

.

Collingwood 2 <NO CHANGE>

.

Did enough for a comfortable win against Melbourne, but they weren't at their best. They have the much needed bye to follow.

.

Stat line: After the bye next week, the Pies meet the Swans, Hawks, Roos & Blues.

.

.

Carlton 3 UP 1

.

Taking care of business – now considered a threat to Cats and Pies in the premiership race. Kreuzer back for the Blues is a massive boost.

.

Stat line: Travel outside Victoria just once more this season.

.

.

West Coast 4 UP 1

.

Continue to be the story of 2011 with a resounding win over the Crows in Adelaide. Nic Nat is a star in the making.

.

Stat line: The Eagles are yet to drop a game to the current bottom 8 sides.

.

.

Hawthorn 5 DOWN 2

.

If the loss didn't hurt enough, losing Roughead to a season-ending achilles injury is the icing on the cake. Will struggle without him.

.

Stat line: The Hawks scoreless last quarter emphasises they are the least consistent team in the AFL quarter-to-quarter.

.

.

Sydney 6 <NO CHANGE>

.

Were wasteful against the Tigers but secured the 4 points. Will be happy to move on having survived the surprising Tiger challenge.

.

Stat line: The Swans face a big test in the next fortnight, up against the Blues & Pies.

.

.

Fremantle 7 UP 1

.

Rebounded against the Dons to earn a 34-point win, avoiding a third straight defeat. Losing David Mundy is a cruel blow.

.

Stat line: The Dockers have had a kind draw, yet still come up against the Demons, Lions & Suns in the next 3 rounds.

.

.

Essendon 8 DOWN 1

.

It's not the 3 consecutive losses that hurts – it's the fact they've shown very little fight against the Tigers, Demons and Dockers.

.

Stat line: Based on Win %, the Bombers have the toughest schedule left this season.

.

.

St Kilda 9 UP 1

.

It wasn't pretty, but they out-scrapped the Dogs on Friday night in a tussle between two desperate teams. Knocking on the door of the 8.

.

Stat line: The Saints are 1.2 years younger and 15 games less experienced (per player) than they were at Round 1.

.

.

North Melbourne 10 UP 2

.

Did it with ease up on the Gold Coast, with the kids having a rare off night. Brent Harvey starred in his record breaking game.

.

Stat line: The Roos are every chance to make the top 8, with still 4 games remaining against the bottom 4 sides.

.

.

Richmond 11 DOWN 2

.

Despite 10 less scoring shots, managed to cause a scare in the harbour city. Building towards a potential top 8 challenge in 2012.

.

Stat line: The Tigers have the AFL's least amount of 100 gamers on the list (only 4) and no 200 gamers (also a league low).

.

.

Melbourne 12 DOWN 1

.

Never really in the contest against the Pies and the game got away from them. Missing too many key players to be a legitimate threat.

.

Stat line: Fielded the youngest team in the AFL on the weekend, at an average age of 22.7.

.

.

Bulldogs 13 <NO CHANGE>

.

Skipper Boyd led from the front, but sadly there isn't a lot to like about the team behind him. Are surely out of the finals race now.

.

Stat line: The Dogs have won just a dismal 5 quarters of their past 20 (over 5 games).

.

.

Adelaide 14 <NO CHANGE>

.

Are suddenly playing almost as bad as the Power, which is saying a lot. Have a difficult fixture coming up, so more losses will surely follow.

.

Stat line: If it wasn't already tough enough, the Crows have a difficult draw ahead and 6 trips interstate to come also.

.

.

Gold Coast 15 <NO CHANGE>

.

Had a poor night against North, to match the Gold Coast weather. Ablett has been a sensation as skipper, playing superb footy of late.

.

Stat line: When they score 100 points, they win. So it's not great that they're averaging just 73 points per game this season.

.

.

Brisbane 16 <NO CHANGE>

.

Came up against a Blues side hitting their straps. Scary to think where they'd be at without Jonathon Brown, but it wouldn't be good.

.

Stat line: The Lions, over the season, have 447 total disposals less than their opposition.

.

.

Port Adelaide 17 <NO CHANGE> BYE
