AFL Teams – Round 2, 2011 – Here comes the Suns Rookies

(Click here to go to the Updates section) Yes, I went there! Round 1 out of the way and that means were all kick ourselves on the good rookies we missed in our DreamTeam/SuperCoach sides. We are gloating or skulking depending on how our team went (I am slightly skulking after the Hawks lost in Adelaide). So we move onto round 2, Adelaide take a week off to enjoy their win (take your Crows out of your DT/SC) and the newest side in the league, the Gold Coast Suns, will make their debut on Saturday night. We will get to see how Garry Ablett goes skippering the new team and we get to see a host of rookies and see how they go in the big league! In other news, Brisbane have quite a few holes to fill without Brent Staker and Jonathan Brown after they got injured on the weekend. Hawks hope to get back Luke Hodge back after he had a run around for the Boxhill Hawks to get fitness back (here is his goal from that game).  James Hird has suggested that he will take in the same lineup into there next game. North are forecasting potentially getting back Grima (injury) and Petrie (Suspension) for this weeks match . It is also suggested the James Frawley will return to help Melbourne cope with Buddy Franklin. Lastly, Geelong are saying they will wait till the last minute to decide if Joel Selwood will play this week have suffering Concussion from a big hit Friday night. • Friday 12:30pm: Its after midday so I am taking it that this isn’t an April Fools joke! Geelong’s website are reporting that Joel Selwood wasn’t recovered enough and will miss this week. Mooney (General Soreness) and Tom Lonergan (Calf Strain) are also out. Into the 22 will be Daniel Menzel, Cameron Guthrie and Allen Christensen who will make his debut. Josh Cowan, Tom Gillies and Dawson Simpson have been made Emergencies.
• Friday 12:45pm: Being reported that Port’s Steven Salopek is out of the Port Side this week. No word on a replacement yet. It seems that the late changes meme is starting and the AFL needs to do something about it!
