AFL Injury report – Round 2, 2011 – Carnage in Round 1

So round 1 saw a number of in game injuries that could be carried into round 2. Brisbane have lost both Brent Staker and Jonathan Browns from the weekends game with Fremantle. Staker will miss the rest of the season after suffering a ruptured ACL in his right knee. Brown was smashed byLuke McPharlins knee and had to be taken to hospital where he was found to be suffering from multiple facial fractures. He will miss at least two months.

Joel Selwood got smashed on Friday night and now he is in a race against time to be fit to play the Dockers in Perth on the weekend. The flight might be enough to slow him down and a week off may be the best thing for him. Adelaide lost Rory Sloan and Jason Porplyzia on the weekend from the side that ran over the Hawks. The Hawks didn’t get any further injuries out of the game and will hope for the return of their skipper, Luke Hodge.

Nick Maxwell is still listed to miss another week for the Pies, not that it matters with their tremendous depth. Fremantle and Geelongs injury lists still look long, but the Cats hope to get back Ling and Chapman. Gold Coast have few injuries leading up to their debut in the AFL. Melbourne hope to regain James Frawley, while North would hope that their ruck stocks don’t disappear like they did last week and will welcome Drew Petrie from suspension.
