2011 AFL Predictions – Explaniation and My Picks

So its that time of year. This time next week we will be well into round 1 (hopefully with the Mighty Hawks with their first win). The papers will out tomorrow and they will have there footy magazines with there “experts” giving there predictions for the season ahead. So I was thinking, why can’t us Internet types put up our predictions. So I contacted a number of owners/contributers of some of the best AFL based websites on the web. Most of the questions that I have asked are pretty standard but hopefully a couple of different ideas.

So there will be a number of post over the next few days. Will love to hear your thoughts on everyones predictions and also to revisit our thoughts throughout the year.

So lets start off with yours truelys predictions

Apart from your own side, which team would you like to see win the flag?

Bulldogs. They have been there and there abouts and would be great for there fans.

Out of those you have out of the 8, who are you most nervous of leaving out (i.e. smokey for the 8)?

North Melbourne. They have great kids. Injuries a worry

Brownlow Medalist: Adam Goodes

Smokey for the Brownlow: Paul Chapman (Umps might think its still Ablett)

Coleman Medalist: Buddy Franklin

NAB Rising Star: David Swallow

Player to make the biggest improvement over the year?

Patrick Dangerfield. Kid can play and if he doesn’t kill himself first will show his class

Player you are happy to spend money to Watch?

Cyril Rioli. I am biased but this kid makes the hard look easy

Last team to lose their first game for the year and what round?

Collingwood (possibly Carlton if they beat the Pies in Round 3) Round 8

Which Coach will be Sacked first?

John Worsfold but think there will be less sacked and the first to come later in the season then the Jurnos think.

Will Karmichael Hunt be a success and how many games?

Yes. Play about 16 games and be more then handy.

Who is your Favoite Media personality?

Gerald Wheatley. Knows his stuff. Very even with his opinion and its his opinion, not a sheep about it and not afraid to whack the media itself.

Which is your favorite TV broadcast to watch?

Fox Sport. Has more of the better analysis. BT and Dwayne Russell do give me the shits at times though.

Which is you favorite radio station to listen too?

Triple M. Think that Lyon, Frawley, JB, Damien “Wheres Walldo” Barrett, Piggy Dunstall play well off each other.

What will be the biggest story of the Year?

TV and Internet rights deal. Internet rights may become extremely important in pushing the FTA broadcasters into showing more live footy

Will we have live Friday night games in 2012?

Yes. Pressure from the internet rights will put pressure on Seven

Who will be the GWS Giants biggest name recruit?

Scott Pendlebury
