DreamTeam Captain Choices Analysed – Round 4

Is it so Silly to lock in Ablett?

As a lot of you would know, I co-host an AFL DreamTeam and SuperCoach Podcast (The Coaches Box) with the owner of the best Fantasy Footy site, FanFooty.com.au, Monty. And one of the topics we look at each week is who should you choose as your Captain each week. With the rise of the interest in Fantasy footy and lots of Newbies joining, it was thought that some of the uneducated would just make Ablett their captain in the first match, and leave it that way for the season. So the question is, is that so silly? I thought I would analyse it. Well when I say analyse, I mean I would throw some stats in a SpreadSheet and see what it showed.

So here is what I thought. Pick 3 known DT guns (Ablett, Chad Cornes and Jimmy Bartel), My best player (i.e. the best score from any player in my team that week), Best player overall and the player Calvin (of DT Talk) chooses as best captain option in his Calvin’s Captain Column each week. So here it is after round 4. As you can see, if you choose Ablett each week, you would be doing pretty good.
